Fernando Pecson- Commando Krav Maga Instructor
I have always been in awe of people involved in any forms of Martial
Arts. These are people who are very disciplined and dedicated. Had I
started training at a very young age, I would have been one of those
people I look up to. As I get older, I made a self-imposition upon
myself that I will never become a Martial Artist due to my age and
also because of the number of years it would take for me to become
proficient at whatever form of Martial Arts I would choose to learn.
Health and fitness has always been a passion of mine. Seven years ago
I became a certified Fitness Trainer, and it has been a rewarding
experience for me, having met so many wonderful people, and to see how
their lifestyles have changed, from that of being sedentary to being
active. It gave them new outlook in life. Even though I have learned a
lot, the desire for me to learn something more and something new has
always been a part of me. Two years ago I got my certification as a
Yoga Instructor. It gave me added confidence that I can train people
in different aspects and levels of fitness.
Several years back, I saw this movie called Bourne Identity. I have
seen all of them and truly enjoyed and amazed by the fighting sequence
that they employ in the movie. I read somewhere that it was a form of
Israeli Martial Arts called Krav-Maga. I was very intrigued and
wanted to know more about it. After many inquiries, I decided to try
it out for the first time at a local gym close to my home. I had a
great time learning it and was so impressed that I signed up for a
whole year. Three months into the lesson, I visited the Krav-Maga
website and saw Commando Krav-Maga. I was very curious
as to what it is all about and what the difference was between CKM and
the regular Krav-Maga. I always wanted to challenge myself so
when I saw some of the clips from the boot camp, I said to myself, “I
can do that!”. To make a long story short, I enrolled in the
Instructor Certification Boot Camp. I had the privileged of meeting
Moni Aizik, founder and CKM Chief Instructor. He brought out the
best in all of us from that class. The training was phenomenal and it
was one of the best experiences of my life.
